Street

Latelly i've been getting into street photography, well ok... for about the last year. But now that i've actually started doing it i'm getting even more exited :)

"What is street photography? A reflection of every day life – real, unaltered impressions of public places, places that everybody visits every day, the street where you live, the parking lot of your favorite grocery store, the subway. Street photographers document the truth and take candid pictures of things that you don't notice in your daily grind.

Street photography involves attention to detail. The photographer pays attention to scenes, moments that you only recognize subconsciously. The camera is an unobtrusive extension of the eye in any given situation. Oftentimes, street photographers take pictures they feel; the photographer happens to be there and captures the mood in a fraction of a second. He freezes a moment that you will forget in the same amount of time..."

Car Sizes

Has Anyone else noticed the increase in size of cars, as newer models are brought out...
Whats it for, crash padding?
Is there such thing as a normal small car anymore??

Take the Toyota Corolla for example:
1st gen:

2nd gen:

3rd gen: (my personal favourite)

4th:

5th:

6th:

7th:

8th:

9th:

10th(current):
Now if this is a small car, my name is Fred Flinstone!

Ps. excuse the screwed up layout of the pictures... had some issues..

Asian Discount

Last week i went to this small store in Whitford City shops to get my phone fixed. When i got there i saw 3 asian men all sitting down at their little workshops working on broken phones.
One was an older man of Singaporean appearance, working at this little desk with micro chips, a soldering iron and various other mobile phone parts cluttering his workspace.
The second was of Malaysian appearance also doing the same thing.
The third was of Indian Malay appearance, working at a computer.

So the third man, being the least busy, approached me and asked what he could do for me. I showed him my phone and explained what was wrong with it, demonstrating very well all that i knew about the problem.
He took the phone and showed it to the second man, after several seconds of conversation he came back to me and said it will cost "78 dollars to fix this phone."

I went home and told my mum about the experience; then she suggested that I give her the phone and she'll tell them the same thing, and see if they offer a cheaper price. I thought brilliant, what a great idea. My mother being of more asian appearance than me surely will get a cheaper price!

So later on that week my mother went to the store, and sure enough they asked for 55 dollars.
A whole 23 dollars less. I was pleased. Whether consciously or sub-consciously an asian is more likely to give a cheaper price to a fellow asian than a caucasian any day.

Anyways, i hope i have not offended anyone in anyway. Because when I told this story to some people, they got angry and said it was blatant racism, I replied with, "of course it is." haha

Thank you for listening... I mean reading ;)

Kinetic Sculptures

Today I found this amazing invention by Theo Jansen, such simple technology yet so complicated:

Artist Theo Jansen demonstrates the amazingly lifelike kinetic sculptures he builds from plastic tubes and lemonade bottles. His creatures are designed to move -- and even survive -- on their own.

Australia vs Uzbekistan

World Cup here we come!Looks like the Socceroos have once again showed that we've got what it takes.
Australia came alive in the second half with a 66th-minute goal to substitute Josh Kennedy and a 73rd minute Harry Kewell penalty sealing the win.

The Socceroos place in South Africa could be officially booked as soon as early Thursday morning if Bahrain and Qatar play out a draw in Manama.

But even if that doesn't happen, they now only need one point from their final three qualifiers - an away trip to Qatar in June and home clashes with Bahrain and Japan - to assure qualification.

Satisfaction

Don't you just love the feeling when you've finally completed an assignment, project or work task. You can now just sit back and relax...
Take a deep breath...
ah...
:)

And for a moment in time, in the midst of all these things we are thinking about and doing you find peace. Peace, the insite into the motionless equilibrium of one timeless space. A frozen second of happiness, joy... and satisfaction.

More Coming Soon

I'll fix this blog up real nice
