Jesus Loves You

In my opinion there are 3 things that make a good photo.
Technique, Subject and The Unknown.

By technique i mean lighting, framing, composition, shutter speed, aperture, DOF, lighting etc. You know the rest of it, all the 'basics' that people often judge a photo by when critiquing it. And all the basics that most 'myspace photo' snapping camera owners often get wrong. But sometimes the subject can surpass most of that 'technical stuff', which brings me to Subject.

Subject is probably nearly everyone's favorite. When you see a photo and your like, "woah... that's cool" or " :) " or "aww..." etc.
Sometimes the subject might not actually be that interesting, but to you personally that subject means a lot. eg. A picture of your partner or family. But usually the subject is something amazing, something that the human eye could not normally capture.

Then there is the Unknown. Sometimes you see photos that don't really say a lot. Nothing to technically fantastic about it, nothing really amazing in the photo. But for some unknown reason you love it, you show it to others and they're like, "yeh... so what?". I classify this as 'unknown'.

Anyways, now I'll leave you with a nice photo; One of my favorites.

Today

Today before my first lecture i was sitting in the park that i usually go to in Subiaco(probably the best park of that size in Perth in my opinion); And out of the bushes i saw a bearded man emerge with a large backpack and what looked liked a sleeping bag rolled up on top of his backpack.
He then disappeared again, i think to go wash his face in the small man made stream up further. Then he came out again glancing at me every so often as he walked around enjoying his surroundings.
As he was walking he looked at me again, and this time he smiled and waved. I smiled and waved back. He glanced at the pond for a moment and then left.

It was then, as men and women in business clothes walked by with very serious looks on their faces, i thought isn't it interesting that the people who others often reject are usually the most friendly. Same in the situation where the people with the least often are the most generous.

Something to think about.

Waking Up

I think if you wake up badly it does effect the rest of your day, or at least the rest of your morning.

Today i was woken up sleep deprived by a reminder on my phone telling me i had a Lab Practical in an hour, which i had completely forgotten about(i even forgot to put it in my diary). So i jumped out of bed cursing the current situation my life was in, got changed, and left.

After speeding down Marmion(slowing down for the bits where the speed cameras usually are), driving at a walking pace through heavy morning traffic, running from my car to the laboratory, i arrived just as we were about to start... *sigh of partial relief*

So the moral of the story is to thank God for phone reminders.

But wait... whats that got to do with waking up badly?!?
I don't know, I'm too tired to think right now...

Untitled

Seeing as i am not studying or pursuing photography as a form of job, i am going to make it my primary hobby.

Through browsing lots of peoples work, observing life and various entities I've been getting some ideas for new photography projects i would like to do. One up coming project i am soon to start will be completely in black and white. I find monotone photography detaches from the world we see, because we see in colour, and focuses on subject, form, shadow and light therefore making it more powerful and have a deeper connection with the viewer.

Also i am working on fixing up my film developing container so it can hold 35mm film... as currently it holds 120 film which i do not have a camera for, let alone the film to develop. So once that's done i can start developing my B&W film, which almost nowhere develops(pretty much only fitzgerald do)..(but their too expensive).

Exiting stuff!
So all i need to work out is a more specific theme, i was thinking more along the lines of 'people' or 'life' which i know are very very vague and vast themes, but hopefully something will come to me.

Catching Up

I think i get more satisfaction writing these blogs than the odd 1 or 2 people that even know this blog exists, or any other random reader that stumbles upon my blog.
I realised that i hadn't written a new post in some time so i just went to my default backup blog and posted an embedded slideshow of my photos(see previous entree). But all this time of not blogging I've been doing lots of thinking and lots of note-padding, so hopefully i can put some of those random scribbles of thought into blog form, in upcoming posts.

Catching Up
Catching up with friends i haven't seen in a while is something I'm catching up on as well as my blog entrees. I have come to realise the importance of maintaining good friendships that you have made in the past; although this requires a lot of time and effort i think its worth it, after all people need relationship with other people otherwise they tend to go crazy.
So the way i see it, the more people you are friends with the better, but of course like i just said it takes effort to maintain these friendships.

Enough blabbering on about that, here is a  one of my favourite photographs,
 not taken by me.
I'm showing this as inspiration for a future entry I'm going to write about some up coming photography projects i would like to do :)
